Always check for breaks on the new WC and if there is any damage to the flange, or the floor area around the WC is badly worn, then you should make this good before you begin to install the new unit. Completely wipe off any residue from the old wax ring. Put a cloth inside a bag and place in the opening as a good way of blocking any odours that may be present. Make sure you do not touch the wax ring, as it is really sticky. Sit the bowl on the flange, making sure not to disturb the wax ring. The holes in the bowl base should line up with the tank bolts. Use a washer and tighten each bolt. Hand-tighten each nut and then use channel-type pliers to further tighten the nuts.Connect the WC cylinder. Some cylinders already have a flush and fill valve fitted. If not, insert the flush valve through the tank opening and tighten a spud nut over the threaded end of the valve. Adjust the fill valve and set the water level as stated by the manufacturer. fit the valve inside the cylinder. Tighten the nylock nut securing the valve to the cylinder and then do up with channel pliers. With the cylinder on its back, place a rubber washer onto each bolt and insert it into the holes from inside the tank. Place a brass washer and hex nut onto the tank bolts from underneath and tighten them slightly more than hand tight. Locate the cylinder on the pan. Fit a rubber washer, then a brass washer and wing nut, on each bolt and tighten up evenly by hand. Too tight cracks the cylinder, which should be level and solid. Fit the water supply by connecting the supply tube to the threaded filler valve with the coupling provided. Switch on the water and test for leaks. “
